The grade of industrial quartz sand raw materials is getting lower and lower, so that it can not meet the needs of industry, but we can purify it by the following methods to provide its grade. There are mainly the following methods:

1. Scrub and desliming.

Scrubbing refers to the removal of thin-film iron, cohesive and muddy impurity minerals on the surface of quartz sand and the further crushing of mineral aggregates that do not form monomers with the help of mechanical force and grinding and stripping force between sand particles, and then the effect of further purification of quartz sand is achieved through classification operation. At present, there are mainly rod friction and mechanical scrubbing. The main factors affecting the scrubbing effect are the structural characteristics and configuration of the scrubbing machine; The secondary factors are scrubbing time and scrubbing concentration (the scrubbing concentration is generally 50% - 60%).

2. Magnetic separation.

Magnetic separation is mainly used to remove magnetic minerals from quartz sand. For example, weak magnetic minerals such as hematite, limonite and biotite can be removed by strong magnetic separator, while strong magnetic minerals such as magnetite can be removed by weak magnetic separator.

3. Flotation.

Flotation is used to remove feldspar, mica and other impurities in quartz sand that cannot be removed by magnetic separation to further improve its purity.

4. Acid leaching.

Acid leaching can further purify quartz by making use of the characteristics that quartz is insoluble in acid (except HF acid) and other impurity minerals can be dissolved by acid solution.

5. Microbial leaching.

It refers to the use of microorganisms to leach the thin film iron or impregnated iron on the surface of quartz sand particles, which is a newly developed iron removal technology.
